Kale & Turnip Greens with Bacon
about 6 slices of Bacon
1/2 quarts water
2 bunches fresh turnip greens with roots (about 2 pounds)
1/4 tsp sugar
Cook bacon add add the bacon and a the lard to the prepared Greens
Remove and discard stems and discolored spots from greens. Chop greens, and wash thoroughly; drain. Peel turnip roots, and cut in half.
Add greens, roots, and sugar to pot ( we like to use a Crock Pot); cook at high. Reduce heat; cover and simmer 45 to 90 minutes or until greens and roots are tender.
